01The challenge
The owners are a couple working in tourism, with three young children and parents who often come to stay for long visits. They wanted to see the sea from the living room, the kitchen and the bedrooms, without the house heating up like a glass box.
The site sits on a slope facing southeast, with strong sea winds and salty air all year round.
02Design concept
We stacked three white boxes in a staggered arrangement. Each upper box cantilevers out to shade the one below, so the large glass walls stay in shadow through the afternoon.
The pool sits right beside the living room, reflecting light onto the ceiling and cooling the breeze before it enters the house.

03Living spaces
The first floor is for family life: the living room, kitchen and a ten-seat dining table flow into one another. The second floor has four bedrooms, each with a sea-view balcony. The third floor holds a reading room and a planted rooftop terrace.

04Materials & details
- Salt-resistant exterior paint with a 10-year warranty
- Double-glazed glass that cuts heat and wind noise
- Frameless glass railings that keep the view clear
- Sand-colored terrazzo around the pool, non-slip when wet
In the morning we open the doors and see the sea, and in the afternoon the living room is still cool. Exactly what our whole family hoped for.
Results
After a year of living there, the family barely needs air conditioning on the first floor during the dry season. The facade is still clean and white despite being right by the sea.
