01The challenge
The homestay owner had a sloping plot with a narrow access road. Building on site would have been very difficult because material trucks couldn't get up there.
02The modular solution
Each unit was built as a complete module at the workshop, with wiring, plumbing and furniture already in place. A crane lifted each module up the hill, set it on pier foundations, and power and water were hooked up the same day.
03Advantages
- Almost no digging or filling, so the trees and terrain stay as they are
- Consistent quality, since everything is made in the workshop
- Easy to add new units as the homestay gets busier
My biggest worry was the road up the hill, yet within a week we had homes ready for guests.
Results
The homestay welcomed guests after 7 days of installation, and ordered 3 more units the following year.
